My guest today is someone I have come to appreciate so much for his open-mindedness toward holistic healing, his capability of having candid conversations about mental health, and his insightful perspectives on natural substances like CBD, Kambo, ayahuasca and so on.And, that’s not all, he is a music composer and producer based in London. Playing percussion, keys, and all manner of instruments, he creates a unique sound that is sacred, ambient, and immersive.

On this episode, we talk about

  • How he continues to deepen his experience of sound healing and how that relates to his music productions,

  • His experiences with plant medicine - including cannabis, CBD, peyote, ayahuasca and kambo, how it can potentially provide continuous well-being support  and how it’s all about being informed on your own personal journey to recovery,

  • He also talks about CBD London, the shop he’s involved in since its inception and the other activities - besides CBD products, that are being held there,

  • The pressures of the music business on artist well-being, including the survey conducted by Record Union in April 2019 - listen to the interview I did with Johan Svanberg, Record Union’s CEO here.

  • The question of responsibility when it comes to an artist’s mental health in today’s music industry, and his own experiences with close friends and acquaintances who self-excited last year,

  • Music Circle, the peer-to-peer support group he founded for musicians, which also functions as a coping mechanism for the losses he unfortunately suffered.

If you are based in London, active in the music industry and feel like you need support from peers, head on over to music-circle.co.uk or DM Aaron on Instagram to inquire about the possibilities for you. You’re not alone and you don’t have to be. Help is available.

If sustainability is the keyword, it’s all about regularity, lifestyle and consistency.
— Aaron Horn

Aaron also shares his top tips on how to build a sustainable career in electronic music - a road he’s still walking himself. Tips include:

  • Prioritize your well-being,

  • Understand your definition of success,

  • Build slowly and invest in other work or projects that’ll help sustain you in the meantime.

This episode is jam-packed with wisdom about holistic health, sound healing, plant medicine and well-being advice for any independent music maker out there who’s adamant on thriving in today’s dance music community in a sustainable and healthy way.
