Building a life around your passion for electronic music can be very detrimental for your mental health.

Lots of DJs and electronic music producers I work with have such a huge passion for electronic music - they can feel it in their soul.

And they’ve seen a glimpse of what their life in dance music could look like. But making that glimpse a reality seems impossible or just for the lucky few. Plus, it often feels as if nothing you do moves the needle.

I bet this sounds familiar.

I’m also willing to bet if you were to count how many times someone has told you to get real - making a living as a DJ/producer is impossible - and you shouldn’t be in it for the money anyways - you’ve lost count by now.

I’ve helped multiple clients cultivate a greater sense of personal wellness and mental well-being so that they could become more confident about their next steps to move the needle.

DJ/producers who felt so stressed out by the whole process that they were in a depressed state and ready to quit.

Or who kept going in a continuous loop not knowing all the tools and resources to go about things the right way, overwhelmed by feeling like they were constantly playing catchup

They now thrive, feeling confident, motivated and inspired and backed with the certainty that they always know exactly what to do to get back into the groove and finish their music so that they can get released or booked.

IIn this episode, I share 3 ways cultivating wellness in dance music supports your overall mental health so that you can move the needle - on your own terms.

You'll hear me talk about:

  • How the term mental health is used quite loosely and why I'm careful how I speak about mental health.

  • The way I see wellness, mental well-being and mental health using the analogy of a velocity meter.

  • My own mental health issues and past experiences with depression and a psychotic break [trigger warning] and how that motivated me to take better care of myself.

  • Why focusing on your wellness first helps you to choose long-term success in dance music over short-term gain.

  • And much more!

My intention for you is that after listening to the episode, you can have a greater sense of clarity and awareness on how to support your own mental health through cultivating wellness so that you can get released or get booked.

What I know to be true is that focusing on your wellness and mental well-being as well as knowing exactly what to do to finish your tracks and DJ mixtapes and how to get it in the ears of the right people helps you to make that glimpse of the life you know you could have in dance music a reality.

And I’m holding space for you to be able to do that with the support of someone with over 20 years in dance music (me) and a community of peers who can lift you up and help hold you accountable too.
