Mind The Music Episode 033 - Rebranding sobriety in dance music with T.Bunts (How To Dance Sober)
Tom (T.Bunts) is a DJ and producer based in Sheffield, having released music on record labels like Swerve Digital and PUSH.
Besides being passionate about producing electronic music, Tom has also been on a mission to help rebrand sobriety in dance music via his podcast How To Dance Sober, as well as holding a space for sober and sober curious peers on Clubhouse.
Since Tom and I have very similar missions, we thought it'd be a great idea to sit down for a 1:1 conversation - after having only met each other through Clubhouse and candidly share real journeys into sobriety in dance music.
In this episode, youâll discover:
How everybody's journey into sobriety is different and how there's more of a stigma around the word than most of us realise,
What the motivation and drive behind #rebrandsobriety is in an environment like dance music where drinking and using other drugs are the norm,
Why Tom started the How To Dance Sober podcast and what the positive impact has been so far,
How you are not responsible for how other people feel about your decisions to quit drinking. You don't need validation from others to make lifestyle choices like quitting alcohol!
Tom also shares his top 2 tips for people wanting to explore sobriety or a sober-curious lifestyle.
If you want to dive deeper into sobriety in dance music, then definitely head on over to the How To Dance Sober Instagram page. Tom's DMs are always open for you if you have questions.
I can personally attest to how much HTDS has been such a great line of support on my own journey into sobriety and want to encourage anyone listening to follow HTDS on IG so that you can stay informed about the topic and new podcast episodes being released.
