Beat procrastination in electronic music
Do you wish you’d have an anti-laziness and anti-procrastination tool?
You’re struggling to get into it, to finish tracks, to finally get the recording of that mix down, you’re hitting creative blocks and you find yourself putting things off more often than not.
I work with driven producers and DJs who want to get clear on their next steps with their creative projects, their progression, finishing their tracks, and taking actions to get it out there so that they can move the needle in dance music, and the majority of them struggle with procrastinating.
Usually, what happens is, they don’t have clarity on what’s really going on.
Thinking you must be lazy because you haven’t cranked out a tune in weeks - if only you had better time management skills.
You can’t get yourself started and progressing and when you lack energy and motivation, being lazy makes you angry.
Feeling like a loser because you haven’t recorded let alone uploaded a mix in months - you need to get all of your transitions perfect first.
Juggling all the things because you DIY and never having enough time to do it all - on top of that, you’re missing out on quality time with loved ones.
These are symptoms of a deeper issue.
More than that, as the problem continues, it gets worse. Here’s what that can look like:
Hundreds of unfinished tracks,
Crippling self-doubt wondering if you’re actually good enough,
Wondering what you’re doing it all for (who’s going to care anyway)
Struggling to get visible, to get your work heard or to book gigs.
From my experience of working with my clients, I know that more time won’t help you solve this. What happens when you think you need more time - more time to work on your music, more time to learn, more time to figure things out, is that you’re actually putting off making decisions.
80% of your success in the dance music industry will come from doing the inner work (mindset) and the other 20% is strategy.
More time can be great, but, you need to become more decisive. Time is something you cannot get back. You need to realize that. If there’s one frustration every human being on this planet has, is wasting time.
Something is blocking you mentally and it’s stopping you from making decisions on what your next steps should be.
Making decisions, becoming more decisive, helps you to get unstuck faster and brings a sense of relief. When you make a decision, you take action. Making a decision is movement of thought. It’s telling yourself you are able and capable enough to move forward so that you can feel confident about your next step(s) and ready and able to move the needle in dance music.
This is exactly what happened with one of my clients who said she felt like the world’s worst procrastinator. She kept going round in circles, wanting to become more productive and promote herself more as a DJ. She needed to get clear on why she was feeling this by understanding what was holding her back.
After our initial call, she understood what limiting beliefs and stories she had told herself.
She also realised that she drastically needed to cut back on a few unhealthy habits that had been holding her back for over a decade so that she could have more energy to become more productive and focus on promoting herself more as a DJ. Having that clarity gave her confidence because she finally understood what was going on.
Through working together, she used her newfound energy to get better organised, stop procrastinating and get her own stuff done. She was also able to help her kids become more organised AND she landed a DJ gig (livestream of course) on a Facebook page with over 16K followers - her hubby too btw.
And this in times of COVID, knowing that no events were taking place.
When you are choosing a direction to take, you feel more confident. You’re determined to achieve your goal and more motivated to take action. You can just focus on the process, the daily actions you have to take, and the habits you need to put in place in order to feel satisfied with and proud of your results.
More tips on productivity or time management won’t solve your biggest issues.
What you want is to stay relevant, be proud of your work and ultimately live life to the fullest with more time and more freedom to do and create exactly what you want without feeling like somebody’s going to pull the rug from under you.
And for this to happen you need to learn to hold yourself accountable so that you can proactively take control of the issue and beat procrastination.
I know the exact path to overcoming this challenge so that you can have clarity and real points to think on to help you to feel confident about your next step(s) and ready and able to move the needle in dance music.
This is exactly what I help you with during a free 45-minute consultation call with me.
How many more weeks or months will you go without actually doing what you love and be proud and satisfied with it?
How much longer will you keep putting things off and beat yourself up about it?
Wouldn’t you rather face this challenge now so that you can feel confident about your next steps and get visible, be relevant and achieve?
Let’s continue the conversation!
