Victimising yourself can destroy relationships, block you creatively and blind you from seeing opportunities in pursuing a career in electronic music.
For the first time ever, I’m stepping up on the show to cover a topic myself.
I’m going to walk you through 6 examples of victimising from my coaching practice to help you understand why a self-victimising attitude can potentially block you creatively in your music-making, blind you from seeing opportunities and hold you back from understanding what you need to build a sustainable career and create longevity.
There are many ways you can victimise yourself. I’ve defined 6 types of ‘victims’ as examples that I’ll cover.
They are:
1. The Instant Gratification Victim
2. The Magic Wand Victim
3. The Ageism Victim
4. The Comparison Hangover Victim
5. The Poor Victim
6. The Imposter Syndrome Victim
Each one of them has something in common: they feel worthless and they’ll use any excuse to stay in that situation. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging here. Hell, I’m definitely guilty of victimising myself in each and every one of those categories!
If you find yourself feeling shitty about external circumstances at the expense of your wellbeing, you’ll want to reflect on how much you put the blame elsewhere - outside of your control and learn how to cope. This episode will help you do that.
Which are the external circumstances that demand most of your attention right now? Find out with my Life Areas Worksheet and use that clarity to determing how you will cope.
I uncover how these attitudes set you up to be helpless when you’re really not, and, more importantly, how to turn that around. How you handle yourself when it comes to control speaks volumes about your sense of wellbeing.
To help you on your way, I’m sharing 4 strategies you can use to help you do that and get yourself out of that funk of feeling helpless and confused. May they serve you well!
